VERDICT:
The step up to this trip produced further improvement in CONVIVIAL SPIRIT at Lingfield last time and he can confirm his superiority over the runner-up Nans Joy. |

Racing has three codes: Flat, Jumps and Trot. Flat and Jumps are known as GALLOP racing. Jumps has three further "disciplines", Hurdle, Steeplechase and Cross (Country).Trot has two disciplines, Chariot and Mounted.
Trot and Gallop data is kept separate (ie. different tables) within our database.
Racecards have meeting number (1), track (Chantilly), date, going (good 3.1), race number, race time (14:00), number of runners (7), name of race (Parade Restaurant), type of race (Claiming Handicap), age group (3yo), prize money, race distance (2000m), class (B), surface (Turf), track type (GPRH). Gallop handicap races also have a reference (ref), that's the +25.
The Jump example is a Hurdle race and the Trot example is Chariot race.
Classes can be Class A > Class G
The form column is the finishing positions in the last eight races, latest race on right, form from previous year's efforts comes before brackets eg (07), denoting 2007. In the french version, the form figures are reversed (ie. latest run on left).
Tenth or worse is denoted by a "0". We can also
have D (Disqualified) P (Pulled-Up), F (Fell), R (Refused to start).
Racing takes place on different surfaces - here we have Turf. Jumps is always on Turf.
Steeplechase, Hurdle and Cross are denoted by an s, h and c respectively.
Chariot and Mounted races are denoted by c and m
The bold face numbers are used for all non-turf races (applies to flat and trot only, as jumps is always turf)
Note: as already stated, form and data for gallop and trot are treated as if in separate databases
Aid: ●= blinkers, ○=
first time blinkers, cp = Australian blinkers / cheek pieces, v = visor, t = tongue tied,
= all 4 shoes removed.
Odds = forecast Odds
OR = official rating.
SF = speed figure (calculated from my own "standard times" and proprietary formula)
The 13 after Cherri Foresafe is the number of days since it's last run (worked out from the DB) and the 11k is the claiming price (claiming races only).
3 b g Mujahid - Compradore : horse age (3) colour (b), sex (g) and pedigree (sire - dam or mother - father)
GOOD 3.1 is the "going" or ground conditions.
In this example, when admin enters 3.1 for the going a value is pulled from the DB thus: GOOD 3.1.
All-Weather going (flat only) can be Fast, Standard, Slow (vite v, normale n, lent l, in French).
Going for trot races is normally good or holding. (bon / collant).
